Who We Are
The Parkville Campus is a local church for the Inner North. Parkville 5pm is a growing, loving community for all – whether you believe, doubt, or are sceptical – you are welcome. We are passionate about helping spiritual seekers and believers go deeper in understanding Christian faith, and using creativity to engage the wider community with the good news of Jesus.
What We Do
Parkville 5pm is involved in a range of ministries which seek to support, encourage, and grow all members of our community.
Community
Community
We believe that everyone is a valuable member of God’s church and has a role to play in encouraging and building up others in faith, as well as learning from those who are different from us. We love being a multicultural and multigenerational church. We seek to build purposeful interactions between generations for mutual growth and service, such as kids band, mentoring and ministry opportunities, Leaders in Training (LIT), and All Age services.
Mission
Mission
God sends us on his mission to live and share his good news. We have regular ‘Sharing Hope’ events for training in mission, we hear each other’s ‘Good News Stories’ at church, and seek to be a blessing to our local neighbourhoods as people transformed by the gospel.
Teaching
Teaching
We live in a post-Christian world and are committed to teaching that is biblical, thoughtful and nuanced. We believe that the gospel both challenges and fulfils the desires of our hearts. We therefore seek to engage with topical issues with rigour and sensitivity and allow God’s Word to speak to our whole being — minds, hearts and lives.’
Small Groups
Small Groups
Following Jesus is better together. Small groups are a vital part of our life at St Jude’s, providing a space for deep fellowship and spiritual growth as we eat together, study the Bible and pray for one another. Small groups are gatherings of 8-12 people who meet weekly. These groups are as diverse as our church family, offering a variety of meeting times and locations.
Congregational Dinners
Congregational Dinners
Since the earliest times, Christians have shared food together to express unity and love. We too value the bonds we share, and we invest time each week in building relationships with one another. All are welcome to join us for dinner, either at church after the service, or at a local restaurant (vegetarian and gluten free options available).
Community Outreach
Community Outreach
We seek to bless our local community through a variety of collective initiatives, as well as through our individual work.
We support the Salvos and their foodbank in Brunswick, serving refugees and asylum seekers in the north and west of Melbourne.
We offer support and encouragement to new parents through a playgroup that runs each Tuesday morning during school term.
We are engaged in supporting residents of the Carlton Housing Estate with tutoring through the St Judes Estates Community.
We pray regularly for our local community, our city and our world.
Global Mission
Global Mission
Followers of Jesus are all called to be missionaries, our mission is the proclamation of the gospel to those who don’t know Jesus. Some of us are called to do this on our doorstep in our local communities, others are called to serve in another culture and/or country.
Our global mission partners are supported by our church both in prayer and financially.
