Volunteer opportunities to serve at
St Jude’s Estates Community
& Carlton Housing Estates
All volunteers are required to abide by St Jude’s Policies (eg. Child Safe Policy) as well as hold current checks including Working with Children Check and Police Check.
Prepare a Sunday lunch
Prepare lunch for approx. 30 residents and congregation members. Heating facilities, rice cooker available.
Once every 2 months
Lead a service
We follow a simple liturgy, you will need to choose 3-4 songs but we welcome your creative input.
Once every 2 months
A keyboard with weighted keys is available.
Room does not require a P.A system.
As often as possible
Help at Kids Club
Kids Club is for primary aged residents on the Estates. A team of helpers run sport, craft, cooking activities and excursions; our coordinator sets everything up, and provides a term-by-term program.
At least fortnightly during school terms
Kids Club does not run during school holidays
Help at Sewing Group
Help a small team set up sewing machines and assist Estate residents with simple sewing while sharing in conversation.
At least fortnightly at one of the time slots
Tutoring in homes
Any suitable time for 1 hour
After some cultural training, be linked to a family living on the Estates whose children need help with homework.
Usually once weekly
Tutoring at Homework club
Join a team of other tutors to help school children mostly from Grades 5-10 with their homework.
Help with general administration
Any suitable time, 30 minutes to an hour or so
We would value help in administrative tasks such as setting up the Sunday service PowerPoint, maintaining online song copyright registers, and recording service attendance.
Help at Family Camp
Annual 5 day camp
usually 3rd week January
at Mornington Peninsula
Family Camp is a great opportunity to take inner city public tenants to the Mornington Peninsula. We need helpers for tasks such as children’s activities, kitchen duties and excursions.
