Accountant/Financial Controller, St Jude’s Carlton
About St Jude’s
St Jude’s is a large, multi-congregation, multi-site Anglican church based in Carlton in Melbourne. With a mix of operating activities and a large building project underway, we enjoy a vibrant community of members and visitors, with a great team of pastoral and administrative staff.
We are seeking an experienced accountant on a part time basis (2-3 days/week, to be determined) to respond to the growing complexity of our operations. Increasing scale and compliance obligations and the need to carry out financial operations efficiently are drivers for this new role.
Applicants will need to have an accounting qualification and/or CPA/IPA/CA and a minimum 3-5 years in full-functioning accounting experience. Hands-on experience with Xero and sufficient experience in internal controls, payment procedures and scheduling cashflow, salary packaging, payroll and leave accounting, PAYG, GST/BAS, and capable with spreadsheets and other computer applications are all required.
Applicants will also need to bring demonstrated organisation skills and a passion for quality, initiative and communications skills, critical thinking and attention to detail. He/she will be a self-starter, work with minimal supervision and be proactive in recognising problems and new requirements, and will be motivated and willing to improve processes and tools for greater financial processing efficiency. Working as part of the staff team, the successful candidate will need to support St Jude’s values and culture.
