Assistant Minister (Female): Parkville

St Jude’s Parkville is seeking a woman with leadership and pastoral gifts as our Assistant Minister (lay or ordained). The Assistant Minister will work with the Senior Associate Minister, other staff and lay leaders to provide pastoral leadership of the Parkville congregations. She will think theologically about the role and ministry and have excellent personal and relational skills. The Assistant Minister will work to raise up, organise and train members and leaders, develop appropriate systems to maintain and grow these ministries, and contribute to a culture of excellent pastoral care. The successful applicant will be working with a committed team in this ministry and will serve within the parameters of the St. Jude’s Code of Conduct and the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne Safe Ministry protocols and codes of conduct.
The Assistant Minister will support the Senior Associate Minister in the pastoral oversight of St Jude’s Parkville. Depending on gifts and experience, responsibilities may include a negotiated selection of:
- Pastoral care of members, particularly women
- Preaching and leading at Sunday services
- Teaching, discipling and training of congregation members and lay leaders
- Supervision of trainee and voluntary staff
- Developing community life (including welcoming and integration of newcomers)
- Oversight of small groups (Bible study groups)
- Evangelism and outreach
The Assistant Minister will be supported through regular supervision with the Senior Associate Minister and a supportive and welcoming staff team (both at St Jude’s in Parkville and across St Judes as a whole). External supports (eg ministry coach, professional supervision) are also encouraged.
The Assistant Minister will also perform other tasks as directed by the Senior Associate Minister and/or Vicar.
